Solid pack for the price

I was looking for a new pack and saw they had the Jade hiking pack on sale, something like 25% off. I usually try to snag a deal, so that caught my eye. Shipping was free because my order was over $99, which is always nice. The pack itself seems well-made, and I felt like I got good value for what I paid. It's practical for day hikes, and I didn't feel like I overspent, which is key for me. Overall, a decent purchase.

Detailed thoughts on my new Baltoro

I recently purchased the Baltoro backpacking pack, size medium. Ordering was straightforward on their website, though I did spend a bit of time comparing it to the Deva. Shipping took about 6 business days to arrive in upstate New York, which was within the estimated window. The pack arrived well-packaged and undamaged. I appreciate the adjustability of the Response A3 suspension; I spent some time fine-tuning it, and it really made a difference in comfort with a loaded pack. The quality of the materials seems robust, and the zippers feel sturdy. I used it on a three-day trip, and the access points were convenient. I haven't needed customer support, so I can't speak to that. Overall, it's a high-performance pack that met my expectations for long-distance carrying.

Good pack, fits well

I grabbed a Zulu hiking pack for a trip last month. It was pretty comfortable on the trails, and the side pockets were super handy for water bottles. Took about 5 days to reach Denver after I ordered it. Happy with how it worked out.

What's the deal with returns? If a pack doesn't fit quite right, is it a pain to send back?

C Carly C. 2 months ago

Nah, returns were pretty straightforward for me. Just follow their instructions on the site and you're good.

M Mia 1 month ago

I had to return a pack last year 'cause I ordered the wrong size. They sent a label and it was free. Not too much hassle, just took a bit to process the refund.

How do I make sure I get the right size pack? Is there a good guide for measuring yourself for one of these?

D David C. 2 months ago

They have a sizing guide on their site, usually under each pack's product page or in the FAQs. You need to measure your torso length, it's pretty important for comfort.

J Jared 2 months ago

Measure your torso from your C7 vertebra (that bony knob at the base of your neck) down to your iliac crest (top of your hip bone). There are videos on YouTube that show you exactly how to do it.

Can you combine promo codes on their site? Like if I have a newsletter discount and a military discount, can I use both?

A Amber 2 months ago

Pretty sure most online stores, including Gregory, only let you use one code at a time. It's usually either/or.

N Nina T. 2 months ago

Nah, tried that once. It'll only let you apply one discount code per order. Gotta pick the best one!

Do they offer any special discounts for healthcare workers?

L Lisa Vargas 2 months ago

Yes, they actually do! I'm a nurse and got a discount code after verifying through their system. Check the bottom of their website for 'Pro Deals' or 'Special Discounts'.

A Alex A. 2 months ago

Yeah, I think I saw something about that on their site. Along with military and first responders. Worth looking into for sure.

Hey, thinking about grabbing a Baltoro. How long does shipping usually take to, say, Seattle?

C Carly 1 month ago

Mine got to Portland in about 4-5 days, standard shipping. So Seattle should be pretty similar, I'd guess.

J Julia Brooks 1 month ago

Yeah, I ordered a small daypack and it took just under a week to get to me in California. I think they ship out of Utah, so West Coast is usually pretty quick.

I'm trying to decide between a Gregory pack and an Osprey. Any thoughts on how they compare, especially for long trips?

N Nina 2 months ago

Both are great honestly. Gregory's suspension feels more custom-fit to me, especially if you get the right torso size. Osprey's good too but sometimes feels a bit more generic, if that makes sense.

G Greg S. 2 months ago

I've owned both. Gregory's always felt more robust and stable with heavier loads. Osprey has some nice features, but for pure comfort with a lot of gear, I lean Gregory. Just my experience.

Are Gregory packs actually waterproof, or do I need a rain cover?

D Derek C. 2 months ago

They're water resistant, not fully waterproof. A light drizzle is fine, but for real rain or prolonged exposure, you definitely want a rain cover. Or a pack liner inside.

F Faith Okafor 2 months ago

Not waterproof. My pack got pretty soaked in a downpour once before I got a cover. Always recommend a rain cover for anything more than a sprinkle.

Is there a discount for first-time buyers or signing up for their email list?

K Kate 1 month ago

Yeah, I got a code for like 15% off when I signed up for their newsletter. It popped up when I first visited the site.

D David 1 month ago

I think so. Most places do. Just sign up with your email and check your inbox, should get something pretty quick.
